Our Pre-school Room promotes self-choice and initiative, which builds on your child’s growing confidence and abilities. The equipment is easily identifiable and at child level set out in areas which include creative play, construction, home corner, cosy book area, IT, sand, water, messy play, paint/collage, dressing up, role play/imaginative play and table top activities. The Pre-school team provide both adult and child led activities each day which are planned as a result of observing each child’s individual interests and needs. We encourage parents to contribute to the planning of activities by letting us know of their child’s interests at home.
We introduce maths with early problem solving through play to the children too. Letters and sounds are also incorporated into every day play activities with the aim of building a good collection of words in readiness for school. Our French teacher visits the Elves children during term time and our Pyjama Drama and Music Teachers visit the children regularly to lead fun, tailor made music and drama sessions.
We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum, which supports children in their earliest years. The EYFS is how the Government and early years professionals describe the time in a child’s life between birth and age 5. This is a very important stage as it helps children get ready for school as well as preparing them for their future learning and successes. From when a child is born up until the age of 5, their early years experience should be happy, active, exciting, fun and secure, and also support their development, care and learning needs. Daisy Chain Childcare is registered to deliver the EYFS, following a legal document called the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework. The EYFS Framework exists to support all professionals working in the EYFS to help children grow and develop in their formative years.
Outdoor play is always included in daily life at Daisy Chain.
We aim to promote healthy lifestyles as part of our every day activities.
We share information with you via Tapestry, an online journal that records all the learning and fun of your child’s early education.
Your little one’s Learning Journal will record special moments and keep you involved in a partnership with us as your child blossoms and grows. Tapestry allows us to securely share your child’s progress with you in real time. We can add notes and images and have them immediately available to any authorised person as part of the complete story of your child’s life at Daisy Chain. Parents are able to view and comment on these special moments, and are able to contribute their own stories of the child’s life outside of nursery.
In the Elves room your child will be part of a group of up to 24. The staff ratio for children aged 2 years is 1:4 and 1:8 for children aged over 3 years (The legal requirement is 1:13 when an Early Years Teacher is on-site).
Our staff team are encouraged to train and develop to their full potential. All members of staff have enhanced clearance through the Data Barring Service (we use the DBS update service) and relevant references are always obtained prior to employees starting with us.
Education and Development in a nurturing setting are at the core of what we do.
A key-person will keep you informed. We pride ourselves on communication and working together.
There are numerous funding options that could be available to you. We’ll advise which are suitable for you.
“Parents are made welcome and suitable information is collected
and shared regularly with them to ensure children’s care is consistent”
