Daisy Chain Childcare at Lofthouse is a stunning purpose-built nursery set within Lofthouse Children’s Centre. The nursery rooms are well resourced, equipped and spacious; facilities include a fully equipped sensory room, community room and community garden. The childcare premises are designed to cater for young children’s needs with features that actively encourage children’s development. Because we believe children learn best through play, all resources are freely available at child height, encouraging independent play and self-choice.
There are three childcare rooms; a baby unit (Pixies), toddler unit (Imps) and pre-school classroom (Elves).
Each nursery room has its own sheltered outdoor play area designed for the children’s specific ages and stages of development, which allows for all year round outdoor play.
Each garden has specific areas of play that include mud kitchens, sand, water, books, sensory, heuristic, role play, imaginary play, construction areas, mark making, maths, music, letters & sounds as well as marked out areas for bikes and scooters.
There is also a small corner greenhouse throughout the spring and summer for growing plants, vegetables and herbs.
We are also extremely fortunate to have access to the Children’s Centre Garden, which allows the children to run around in a much larger area. All our outdoor play areas are secure and separate to that of the schools. We have CCTV cameras monitored by Rodillian Academy’s Facilities Team.
Our well qualified staff team all share a love of working with children and follow a programme of continuous personal development. Each child has a dedicated key person who provides daily feedback on children’s progress and development.
Our on-site cook provides delicious, nutritious, well-balanced meals from freshly prepared local produce with a 5 weekly rolling menu. We are proud holders of a 5 Star Food Hygiene rating from the Food Standards Agency (last inspected Sept 15)
Daisy Chain Childcare was the first private day care company to be accredited with a GOLD award with the Leeds Quality Assurance scheme in 2005, an award endorsed by the Investors in Children kitemark. Daisy Chain Childcare received the Investors in People accreditation in 2011. We achieved a Good rating with Ofsted in 2015.

Hi, I am Julie Spalding and I am the Nursery Manager at the Lofthouse Nursery.
I started working in Childcare in 1980, my childcare background has been Educational, Social Services, home based, overseas and the private sector, which is where I have worked for more than 17 years now. I made the decision from a young age that Childcare was to be my chosen career path, fortunately for me I have had the opportunity to build on my skills, knowledge and experience through working in a variety of diverse and sometimes challenging working environments.
Throughout my career I have been able to take advantage of opportunities and experiences but it is here at Daisy Chain Childcare that I have been able to really put a stamp on developing the nurseries in ensuring we provided the best possible childcare to children and families, which is why I love working here.
Education and Development for your child in a nurturing setting are at the core of what we do.
A key-person will keep you informed. We pride ourselves on communication and working together.
“Parents are made welcome and suitable information is collected
