Imps & Sprites – The Toddler Rooms
Our bright, stimulating toddler rooms offer children lots of fun and challenges. Your little one will be encouraged to take part in creative, physical and imaginative play. All the children eat together to promote social meal times and here little conversations begin. Every day is a new experience with singing sessions, sand, water, collages, building and messy play along with cosy quiet areas for rest. We build upon your child’s social skills and encourage independence in a relaxed fun atmosphere. At the end of each day you will receive feedback and a daily report informing you of the activities your child has enjoyed, meals, sleeps and achievements.
Developing your child’s interests through play
Children’s interests are developed through adult led activities too and we encourage parents to contribute to the planning of activities by letting us know what their child’s interests are at home.
We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum, which supports children in their earliest years, providing them with opportunities to experience activities using their whole bodies and therefore developing their sensory skills. Toddlers have access to many different learning areas including sensory, heuristic, mark making, painting, small world, maths, music, ITC, malleable, and the home corner.
Outdoor play is always included in daily life at Daisy Chain.
We aim to promote healthy lifestyles as part of our every day activities.
We will ask you to help us get to know your little one by completing our “Getting to Know You” booklet prior to your child’s first settling session. This will help your assigned key-person understand your child’s needs from the start and help you and your child settle in with us.
We share information with you via Tapestry, an online journal that records all of the learning and fun of your child’s early education.
Your little one’s Learning Journal will record special moments and keep you involved in a partnership with us as your child blossoms and grows. Tapestry allows us to securely share your child’s progress with you in real time. We can add notes and images and have them immediately available to any authorised person as part of the complete story of your child’s life at Daisy Chain. Parents are able to view and comment on these special moments, and are able to contribute their own stories of their child’s life outside nursery.
The staff ratio for children under 2 years of age is 1:3, and 1:4 for children aged 2.
Our staff team are encouraged to train and develop to their full potential. All members of staff have enhanced clearance through the Data Barring Service (we use the DBS update service) and relevant references are always obtained prior to employees starting with us.
