COVID-19 Addendum Review to Policies and Procedures for January 2021
The following information has been gathered from the latest Government documents:
- Coronavirus (COVID-19): implementing protective measures in education and childcare settings – 30th Dec 2020.
- Actions for early years and childcare providers during the coronavirus outbreak – 30th Dec 2020
It has also been informed by Guidance for Early Years Settings – COVID-19 Site Operating Procedures.
Coronavirus Statement 19-03-2020
We will be following the government’s directive that Early Years settings must close from Friday 20th March. We are however looking to remain open to provide childcare for key workers and families with vulnerable children.
We are waiting for further information from various government departments and will contact our customers directly as soon as we know more.
Coronavirus Statement 17-03-2020
The risk to children in our care is being minimised by adhering strictly to Government guidance. Please help us by adhering to the following points:
- On arriving at the nursery always use the antibacterial hand gel situated on the wall in the entrance.
- Do not come to the nursery to drop off, or collect, your child if you are unwell. If someone else is sent to collect your child, please let the nursery know and use the child’s password. This is a requirement of our safeguarding policy.
- Do not send your child to nursery if they are unwell, in line with our sickness policy.
- If a child is unwell at nursery, we will contact the parent or carer to pick them up.
*Latest self-isolation guidance from Government:
- If you live with others and you or one of them have symptoms of coronavirus, then all household members must stay at home and not leave the house for 14 days. The 14-day period starts from the day when the first person in the house became ill.
- It is likely that people living within a household will infect each other or be infected already. Staying at home for 14 days will greatly reduce the overall amount of infection the household could pass on to others in the community.

At Daisy Chain Childcare, we routinely practice high standards of infection control. We are committed to reducing the risk by ensuring effective hygiene practices are in place for both children and staff and we expect full participation in these practices:
- Wash hands frequently with soap, especially before eating or handling food, after toilet visits, or when hands are contaminated by respiratory secretions after coughing or sneezing.
- Cover their mouth and nose with a tissue when sneezing or coughing, and to discard the tissue immediately into a bin.
- No sharing of food/ drinks/ utensils, toothbrushes or towels with others.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces, toys and equipment regularly, and when contaminated by nasal or oral secretions.
- Ensure supplies such as hand soap, tissues, and paper towels are available for children and staff’s use.
- As always we remain vigilant in ensuring regular thorough cleaning is carried out and our housekeeping is effective. We continually monitor the health of children in our care and will react quickly in the event of any rise in temperature or changes in behaviour.

- Any child presenting a temperature above 37.8 ℃ should stay away from nursery for 7 days.
- Do not send your child to nursery if they are unwell, in line with our sickness policy.
- If a child is unwell at nursery, we will contact the parent or carer to pick them up.
