Ofsted Early Years Inspections — What Parents Need to Know

From November 2025, Ofsted is introducing a new inspection framework for all registered early years settings in England. The aim is to give families clearer information about quality and to support continuous improvement.

Key Changes

  • Five-point ratings instead of a single overall grade: Exceptional, Strong Standard, Expected Standard, Needs Attention, or Urgent Improvement.
  • More detailed reports showing how we perform in each inspection area, such as quality of education, leadership and management, children’s personal development, and safeguarding.
  • Inspection cycle: settings meeting or exceeding the expected standard will normally be inspected every four years (more often if improvements are required).

During an Inspection

Inspectors spend time in playrooms and outdoor areas, observing how children learn and how staff support them. They talk with practitioners, review safeguarding procedures, and may gather brief feedback from parents and carers.

Your Role as Parents

Ofsted may wish to talk to families as part of the inspection. Your feedback helps inspectors understand how well we care for and educate your child.

Our Commitment

At Daisy Chain Childcare we welcome these changes as an opportunity to celebrate our strengths and continue improving. We will share our Ofsted report card with all families as soon as it is published.
